Urgent Search for New Mother Who Left Romford Hospital After Birth
Urgent Search for Mother Who Left Romford Hospital

An urgent search is underway across east London for a woman who disappeared from a hospital in Romford shortly after giving birth. The Metropolitan Police launched the appeal after being called to the hospital at around 5pm yesterday.

Concern for Welfare of Vulnerable Mother

The mother, who is in her 20s, is described as being of slim build with dark hair. She was last seen wearing a light-coloured top and a patterned skirt. A CCTV image has been released to aid the public in recognising her.

Detective Inspector Neil Godwin, who is leading the investigation, emphasised the vulnerability of the woman. "This woman has just given birth and, because of this, she is extremely vulnerable," he stated. "This is not a criminal investigation – we need to locate her to make sure she is ok."

Newborn Safe in Hospital Care

While the search for the mother continues, authorities have confirmed that her baby remains in the care of staff at the east London hospital. The infant is understood to be in good health and receiving appropriate medical attention.

Police have expressed deep concern for the woman's welfare and are appealing directly to the public for assistance. The force is keen to stress that their primary goal is to ensure she receives the right support.

Public Appeal for Information

Officers are urging anyone who may have seen the woman or who has information about her whereabouts to come forward immediately. Detective Inspector Godwin added: "It is extremely important that if you know, or have any information about the whereabouts of this woman that you tell us so we can ensure she gets the right support."

Members of the public who can help are requested to call the police on 101, quoting the reference number CAD3892/30Dec.
