BBC Doctor's 'Golden Milk' Recipe to Combat Colds and Flu

Dr Punam Krishan, a Glasgow-based general practitioner who frequently appears on BBC Morning Live, has revealed a cherished family beverage she relies on for enhancing wellbeing. She describes this drink as not only tasty but also possessing "healing powers" that can significantly bolster the immune system, making it an ideal remedy during the colder months.

A Healing Hug in a Mug

Dr Krishan refers to her "mum's trusted golden milk" as "a healing hug in a mug," a comforting and nutritious drink she prepares to fight off colds and flu. She explains that her mother used to give this beverage to the family throughout winter to nourish their immune systems, and they would always take it whenever feeling unwell. Known as Haldi Doodh in Indian culture, this golden milk is super easy to make and appeals to those who enjoy wholesome Indian chai flavours.

While any variety of milk can be used, Dr Krishan favours cow's milk for this preparation, emphasising the "healing properties" of the ingredients. These properties render the beverage particularly advantageous when you're feeling under the weather, as reported by Surrey Live.
