Singer Jessie J was urgently rushed to hospital for an MRI scan after sustaining a painful head injury while travelling to a performance. The 37-year-old artist, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, documented the alarming incident on social media, expressing fears that she might have broken her neck.
Frightening Moment During Travel
Jessie J was on her way to a concert when the accident occurred. She had just remarked about not minding "squashing in the back" of a vehicle before hitting her head forcefully on the car's roof. Shortly after, she posted footage from the hospital showing herself undergoing an MRI scan to assess the extent of the injury.
Backstage Update on Injuries
While preparing backstage for her show, the singer provided a further video update detailing her condition. "Yeah I just can't move my head. I'm alright. I'll just have to take some painkillers and march right through it," she stated, demonstrating her determination to perform despite the discomfort.
She elaborated further, saying, "I thought I'd broken my neck but I haven't. But I have really hurt my neck and my back." This incident adds to what has been a challenging period for the Price Tag hitmaker, who has become all too familiar with hospital visits in recent months.
Recent Health Battles
Jessie J's hospital visit comes just months after she underwent two significant surgeries following a cancer diagnosis. Last June, the artist had surgery to remove one of her breasts after being diagnosed with "early" breast cancer.
Following months of recovery, she was recently forced to postpone tour dates after announcing she would require a second surgery. The diagnosis has profoundly affected her perspective on life, as she revealed during a poignant address at the Music Industry Trust Awards.
Changed Perspective on Life
"All of us here are going through stuff in life that we have to carry to work and leave at home or take to work," Jessie J reflected. "This year has changed my whole world. My perspective, what battles I'm going to pick, when death comes knocking at your door, and you kind of have to answer and f****** kick it away, it just changes everything."
Personal Life and Motherhood
Beyond her health challenges, Jessie J has experienced significant personal milestones. She became a mother for the first time in May 2023, welcoming her son Sky Safir Cornish Colman with her partner, basketball star Chanan Safir Colman.
Having previously experienced the heartbreak of a miscarriage, she frequently shares her joy in motherhood and the "magic" that her son, born via planned C-section, brings into her life. This personal happiness provides a counterbalance to the health struggles she has faced over the past year.
The combination of her recent cancer treatment and this latest accident highlights the resilience the singer has shown throughout her health journey, as she continues to balance her professional commitments with her personal wellbeing.
