Mum's 13st weight loss after £150 Christmas gift: 'I was a walking heart attack'
Mum loses 13st after dad's £150 Christmas present

A mother from Liverpool who once weighed 22 stone has revealed how a simple Christmas present from her father sparked a dramatic transformation, helping her shed nearly 13 stone and reclaim her health.

The Turning Point: A Father's Gift

Emilly Murray, 35, from Aintree, had battled binge eating and her weight since childhood, at her heaviest wearing a size 30. Despite numerous diet attempts, she found herself consuming around 5,000 calories a day on takeaways, sweets, and chocolates, describing herself as a "walking heart attack".

The pivotal moment came in December 2024 when her father, Paul, 55, asked what she wanted for Christmas. Emilly, a content creator and mum of three, requested the weight loss medication Mounjaro (tirzepatide). Her dad contributed £105 towards her first dose, which she began just before New Year's Eve.

A Year of Life-Changing Transformation

Starting her injections at 16 stone, Emilly experienced an immediate shift. "It was like a switch flicked in my head," she said. The constant "food noise" and cravings vanished, allowing her to focus on healthier habits.

Over the following year, she invested approximately £1,500 in the treatment, a sum she notes is less than her previous annual spend on snacks and takeaways. Through combined use of the medication, calorie control, and exercise, she achieved a remarkable transformation.

Emilly now weighs 9st 2lbs and fits into a size six, the slimmest she has been since her youth. She reports vastly improved mental wellbeing, more energy to play with her children, and the ability to tackle everyday tasks with ease.

Looking to the Future

Having reached her goal weight, Emilly is preparing to gradually reduce and eventually stop the Mounjaro injections as she enters a maintenance phase. She is also planning excess skin removal surgery in Lithuania in May 2025, expected to cost around £12,000.

Reflecting on the past year, she credits her father's gift. "It's changed not just my life but my whole family's life," Emilly stated. "I'm a better mum for my kids... It was literally the best Christmas present from my dad."

Tirzepatide, marketed as Mounjaro, is a prescription medication that works by helping people feel fuller for longer, thereby reducing calorie intake. It is important to consult a healthcare professional for advice on its suitability.
