In a deeply emotional update shared with her followers on Friday evening, prominent UK influencer Lorna Luxe revealed her husband, John Andrews, has been rushed back to hospital following a serious complication in his ongoing cancer battle.
A Heartbreaking Setback in Cancer Fight
The 43-year-old lifestyle influencer, who has over 1.6 million Instagram followers, explained that John, 64, was admitted with organ failure after experiencing a severe reaction to his chemotherapy treatment. Lorna described the past few days as profoundly difficult, confessing that the intensive care team had prepared her for the worst just two days prior.
"My man is back in hospital… and while we’re both putting a brave face on it, this past few days haven’t been easy," Lorna wrote. She detailed how a complication with his chemo led directly to the organ failure, creating a critical situation.
Defying the Odds with a Fighting Spirit
Despite the grave prognosis, Lorna reported that John has shown remarkable resilience. "John isn’t the average patient and he’s somehow defied the odds, showing improvement every step of the way," she shared. The update was posted partly at John's own insistence, with Lorna noting he had questioned why she hadn't shared news with their supportive online community.
Lorna has been transparent about her husband's health journey since his initial diagnosis. In April 2023, John was diagnosed with stage three adrenal cancer and underwent chemotherapy, achieving remission a year later in 2024. However, in a devastating blow last May, Lorna revealed the cancer had returned, spreading to his brain and reappearing in his adrenal gland, advancing to stage four.
A Community's Support as a Lifeline
The influencer, famed for building her brand No 98 Beauty after sharing her recovery from an eating disorder, emphasised how vital public support has been. John left his job at HSBC to help manage Lorna's business and frequently features in her content, making his illness a shared journey with their followers.
"We’re both so grateful for the messages of support and the genuine kindness you’ve given us," Lorna concluded. "I don’t think I’d have got through this year without you and the community we’ve all built, it’s become a lifeline for me."
Fans immediately flooded the post with well-wishes and messages of strength. Responses included sentiments like "Sending you lots of love and prayers" and "John is such a trouper sending healing vibes," highlighting the deep connection Lorna has fostered with her audience.
Lorna has previously explained that openly documenting John's struggle has been a crucial coping mechanism. During his earlier hospital stays, she found solace in replying to supportive messages from followers, describing them as "exactly what I needed at that time."
