Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer Review: Compact Power for Holiday Hair

Fed up with frizzy and dehydrated locks on holiday? Dyson’s latest travel hair dryer promises effortless styling on the go, but at a premium price. The British engineering brand has shrunk its Supersonic into a smaller, lighter, travel-friendly model that offers the same powerful airflow and heat-control technology as its full-size sibling.

The Supersonic Travel looks like the original in miniature, with the same hollow-cylinder design but about a third smaller. It measures 7.1 x 22.2 x 6.8cm and weighs just 0.33kg, making it easy to slip into main luggage or a carry-on. Universal voltage compatibility ensures consistent performance worldwide.

Like the original, the Travel uses a high-speed digital motor generating strong airflow for fast drying without excessive heat. Dyson’s heat control system monitors air temperature multiple times a second to prevent overheating, reducing the risk of dehydration and heat damage. It has two airflow speeds and two heat settings plus a cool shot, offering four styling combinations.

In testing, the Travel dried mid-length curly hair in under 10 minutes, comparable to a full-size premium dryer but faster than a basic model. It comes with a smoothing concentrator nozzle and is compatible with existing Supersonic attachments, though smart functions from Nural attachments are not available. The dryer can connect to the MyDyson app for styling guides, but controls remain manual via well-placed buttons.

The Supersonic Travel is an attractive, compact styling tool available in a ceramic matt-pink finish. While it costs significantly more than budget travel dryers, its performance and portability may justify the investment for those seeking salon-quality hair on holiday.
