In the northeastern city of Kharkiv, regional governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that two people were killed and at least 16 others were injured in the overnight bombardment. Critical energy infrastructure was a primary target. Power facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv regions sustained damage, according to the national energy company, Ukrenergo. This has led to emergency power cuts for consumers, exacerbating the humanitarian situation as winter conditions persist.
In the central city of Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, a Russian missile strike ignited a fire at an industrial site. Mayor Oleksandr Vilkul reported that the attack caused no casualties but resulted in substantial material damage.
Shadow Over Forthcoming Paris Peace Summit
This escalation of violence casts a long shadow over the diplomatic efforts scheduled for the coming days. Officials from dozens of countries are set to convene in Paris for a high-level meeting to discuss Ukrainian President Zelenskiy's proposed peace formula.
