Alan Carr and Amanda Holden Turn Down Strictly Come Dancing Hosting Role

Alan Carr and Amanda Holden have revealed they were offered the role of hosting Strictly Come Dancing following the departure of Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly. The pair, who co-host a BBC property series, confirmed they declined the offer.

Speaking on the podcast Table Manners, Carr stated: 'No, we said no ages ago.' Holden had previously addressed the speculation on her Heart Radio show in December, telling listeners: 'I want to say now that me and Alan are 100 per cent not doing Strictly. We are so flattered to be in that mix. We both are not doing it.'

Winkleman, 54, and Daly, 56, stepped back from the BBC series after the most recent series ended in December. Carr and Holden were reportedly among the BBC's top choices to replace them.

During the podcast interview, Carr also dismissed rumours of a return for his chat show Alan Carr: Chatty Man on Channel 4, saying: 'It would be nice to do a chat show, I don't know, but no one’s approached me or anything.'

The duo are currently busy with the latest series of their BBC property show, Amanda & Alan's Greek Job, filmed in Corfu. In a recent episode, Holden reflected on her divorce from comedian Les Dennis, saying: 'As much as I regret hurting people maybe, or causing chaos, it shapes you to who you are in this moment.'
