Bruno Mars Crowned 'New King of Las Vegas' in Grand Strip Parade
On a vibrant Friday in Las Vegas, singer-songwriter Bruno Mars was honoured with a spectacular parade along the iconic Strip, where he was declared the "new king of Las Vegas." The event, held on April 11, 2026, saw Mars riding in a pink low-rider accompanied by showgirls, as the city paid tribute to his significant contributions to its entertainment scene.
Street Naming and Official Proclamation
In a move that underscores his status as a Sin City icon, officials named a street near the Park MGM "Bruno Mars Drive" and proclaimed the day as "Bruno Mars Day." This honour places Mars among an elite group of Las Vegas legends, including Elvis Presley and Rat Pack members Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr., who have also received street names in the city.
Bill Hornbuckle, CEO and president of MGM Resorts International, praised Mars, stating that the artist has demonstrated the "legacy and legs" to perform in Las Vegas for years to come. Mars, who is launching his global Romantic Tour at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, expressed deep gratitude to the large crowd gathered on the Strip, saying, "It's such a privilege, and I want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for giving me this today."
Mars's Longstanding Ties to Las Vegas
With over 15 years of performances in Las Vegas, including more than 140 shows during his residency from 2016 to 2025, Mars has solidified his place in the city's entertainment history. Two years ago, he further embedded himself in the local culture by opening The Pinky Ring, a cocktail lounge and night club at the Bellagio. Reflecting on his connection to the city, Mars said, "I love this city so much."
In a philanthropic gesture, Mars pledged to donate $1 million to the Las Vegas Children's Hospital, with MGM Grand matching his donation as his partner. The celebration culminated in a brief performance by Mars and his band, The Hooligans, offering fans a preview of his upcoming concert at Allegiant Stadium.
Community Enthusiasm and Legacy
Hundreds of fans braved hot temperatures, waiting for hours to catch a glimpse of Mars during the parade. Las Vegas resident Deedee Jenkins shared her excitement, noting that Mars brings "new blood" to the ranks of Sinatra and Elvis, saying, "But they're old school. This is new blood, and I'm ready for it with my old self."
Mars expressed his dream of hosting a block party to get everyone dancing, a sentiment that resonated with the lively atmosphere of the event. This celebration not only highlights Mars's enduring impact on Las Vegas but also sets the stage for his continued influence in the entertainment capital of the world.
