Hayley Atwell has disclosed that her fiancé, Ned Wolfgang Kelly, was trouserless when he proposed to her during a trip to Venice. The 41-year-old actress, known for her role in Mission: Impossible, became engaged in April 2023 after being linked to the songwriter and composer since July 2022.
Speaking to the Daily Mail's Eden Confidential, Atwell described the unconventional proposal: 'My fiancé was in his pants in the kitchen, and there was an accordion playing outside our window — which was timed perfectly but not planned.' She added that they had rented an Airbnb filled with porcelain ducks, creating a surreal atmosphere.
Ned confirmed the engagement on Instagram, writing: 'Lucky me. Arrived in Venice at 10am, around midday the love of my life and I got engaged in the kitchen of this strange apartment surrounded by ducks, with a bloke outside the window murdering "My Way" on the accordion.' He expressed that he had never wanted to marry until meeting Atwell.
The couple, who keep their relationship low-key, have rarely been pictured together. Ned, a London-based artist, describes himself as vegan and sober for over a decade. His website notes his work producing commercial music for brands like Bud Light and Headspace, as well as film scoring.
Atwell was previously linked to her Mission: Impossible co-star Tom Cruise, with reports of an on-off relationship that ended in 2022. A source stated that the fanfare around their public romance was too much to handle, though their connection was genuine.
