Tuchel: Guardiola Is 'One of a Kind' After City Exit

England manager Thomas Tuchel has described the influence of outgoing Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola as "one of a kind", following the confirmation of Guardiola's departure from the club on Friday.

Guardiola's Trophy-Laden Tenure

The 55-year-old Catalan tactician brought an end to a remarkable 10-year spell at the Etihad Stadium, during which he secured 20 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and the coveted Champions League crown. Prior to his arrival at City in 2016, Guardiola enjoyed hugely successful periods at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Tuchel's Tribute

Speaking at the announcement of England's World Cup squad, Tuchel reflected on Guardiola's extraordinary legacy. "The impact he had on every league where he coached is just one of a kind, just one of the very, very, very best," Tuchel remarked.

"He initiated a major revolution with his style of play at Barcelona, then turned the German league upside down, and then he comes here and shatters every record. It is simply outstanding. There are no words that can adequately capture this level of determination and input; it is of the highest, highest order."

Fans and Pundits Pay Homage

Guardiola's contribution to City's success also drew praise from one of the club's most famous supporters, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher. Taking to X, Gallagher wrote in capital letters: "He came, he conquered, long live the king. Thank you for the good times, Pep."

Former City defender Micah Richards hailed Guardiola as "the greatest manager of the modern era". In his column for the BBC Sport website, Richards wrote: "This is the moment Manchester City have been dreading, but the whole of English football is going to miss Pep Guardiola too. He's a true legend of the game, and I am gutted he is going – the Premier League just won't be the same without him."

Richards added: "Pep is one of the best managers we've ever seen. The greatest ever? Well, it's hard to disrespect Sir Alex Ferguson when you have that conversation, but those were different times – Pep's the greatest manager of the modern era, that's for sure."
