Snoop Dogg's Olympic Curling Cameo Stuns British Competitors

In a surreal moment at the Winter Olympics on Friday, American rapper Snoop Dogg created a unique blend of hip-hop and curling, leaving British athletes Bruce Mouat and Jennifer Dodds utterly shocked. The duo, who had just maintained their unbeaten record with a 7-4 victory over Sweden, were taken aback when the music icon approached them for a photograph.

An Unlikely Meeting on the Ice

Mouat and Dodds encountered Snoop Dogg during halftime, where he was seated next to the mother of US curler Cory Thiesse. "We saw him at half-time. We saw he was sat next to [US curler] Cory [Thiesse]'s mum. He asked for a photo with us, so I am feeling pretty good about myself," Mouat reported. When asked what the rapper said to them, Dodds humorously replied, "He heard about Bruce!"

Snoop Dogg, wearing a distinctive USA jacket adorned with photos of Thiesse and his partner Korey Dropkin, is not just a spectator. He holds the role of honorary coach for the US curling team and serves as a special correspondent for NBC. Demonstrating his involvement, he even took to the ice himself to try sweeping a stone, adding to the day's memorable scenes.

Olympic Roles and Enthusiasm

The rapper's Olympic presence extends beyond curling; he carried the Olympic flame on Wednesday, following his previous role as a torchbearer at the Summer Games in Paris two years ago. His support was palpable as the American pair, Thiesse and Dropkin, secured a 7-5 win against Canada's Brett Gallant and Jocelyn Peterman in front of a lively stadium filled with US supporters.

"It's the Olympics, and our family and friends are here cheering us on. Snoop Dogg's here cheering us on! [The jacket] was so cool. Loved it. Coach Snoop looked good today," an enthusiastic Dropkin exclaimed. Snoop Dogg himself shared his motivation, stating, "I'm just here to cheer, uplift and maybe drop a little wisdom from the sidelines, Team USA athletes are the real stars. This team represents the best of what sport can be: talent, heart and hustle. If I can bring a little more love and motivation to that, that's a win for me."

British Prospects in Curling and Figure Skating

Mouat and Dodds are set to continue their Olympic campaign, facing Korea in the fifth match of the round-robin phase in Cortina on Friday afternoon. Their focus remains on securing further victories in the tournament.

Meanwhile, in another discipline, British figure skaters Lewis Gibson and Lilah Fear made a promising start in their quest for a medal. They are currently in bronze position after the first round of the ice dance session in the figure skating team event. Performing to a Spice Girls medley, a nostalgic nod to the 1990s, they aim to achieve the first British medal in this Winter Olympics discipline since Torvill and Dean's bronze in 1994.

"I just feel so proud," Fear expressed. "The week that we've had, building up to this point when we can just let all of our work just show up for us and enjoy it. I feel like we did exactly that and there's nothing like this feeling." Gibson added, "It's our first ever time doing the team event. It's incredible – their support is so close at the side of the boards."

The Winter Olympics continue to deliver unexpected moments and fierce competition, with Snoop Dogg's involvement adding a unique twist to the curling events.
