A Leicestershire quiz enthusiast from Market Harborough, Andrew Fanko, appeared on the hit ITV game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? this Sunday (10th May) and walked away with an impressive £500,000. Despite being unsure about the final challenging question put to him by presenter Jeremy Clarkson, Andrew decided to play it safe and still secured a life-altering amount.
Quiz fans at home will be keen to test themselves against Andrew's performance. Below are all the questions he answered correctly, plus the final puzzle he declined to answer, with solutions to all 15 questions at the bottom of the page, reports Leicestershire Live.
The questions ranged from easy to extremely difficult. For £100, contestants were asked what the 'G' stands for in 'G and T' (gin). At the £250,000 level, the question was which political incident mentioned in Billy Joel's 'We Didn't Start the Fire' occurred first: Watergate scandal, Suez Crisis, Profumo affair, or Bay of Pigs invasion. The correct answer was the Suez Crisis.
The £500,000 question asked which Agatha Christie character dies in 'Murder on the Orient Express': Linnet Ridgeway, Aristide Leonides, Samuel Ratchett, or Carmichael Clarke. Andrew correctly answered Samuel Ratchett. The final £1 million question, which he declined to answer, was: 'Which of these is an EGOT winner, meaning they have won each of the four major entertainment awards – an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony?' The options were Lin-Manuel Miranda, Cher, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Bette Midler. The correct answer is Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Host Jeremy Clarkson congratulated the 'fantastic' player. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire airs Sundays at 7pm on ITV and can be streamed on ITVX.
