Brazilian Couple Discover They Are Brother and Sister After 19 Years Together

A Brazilian couple who have been together for nearly two decades have made a shocking discovery: they are brother and sister. Adriana and Leandro, who share a daughter, only learned the truth after Adriana sought help from a radio station to find her long-lost mother.

Both were abandoned as infants by mothers named Maria. Adriana had not seen her mother since she was one year old, while Leandro was left in São Paulo at age eight. The couple met over 20 years ago after Adriana's previous marriage ended, and they quickly fell in love.

In 2014, Adriana contacted Radio Globo's programme 'The Time Is Now', which specialises in reuniting families. During the broadcast, their mother revealed she also had a son named Leandro. Adriana exclaimed, 'I don't believe you're telling me this. Leandro is my husband.'

Despite the revelation, the couple decided to stay together. Adriana said, 'Only death is going to separate us. All this happened because God wanted it to happen.' They have spoken to their mother and plan to meet her.

Experts describe the situation as Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA), a phenomenon that can occur when adults separated in childhood are reunited later. The couple, who never legally married, insist they will remain husband and wife regardless of public opinion.
