Hornets' Miles Bridges Granted Restraining Order Against Ex-Girlfriend
Hornets' Miles Bridges Gets Restraining Order Against Ex

Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges has been granted a restraining order against his ex-girlfriend and co-parent Mychelle Johnson, according to court documents obtained by The Daily Mail. The temporary protective order, issued on April 8, prohibits Johnson from coming within 500 feet of Bridges, his current girlfriend Shara, and the three children Bridges shares with Shara. Additionally, Johnson must stay at least 500 feet away from Bridges' home and workplace.

Allegations of Cyberstalking

The order was requested after Bridges' lawyer described Johnson's behavior as 'cyberstalking' in a motion filed last month. The judge's order states: '[Johnson] is hereby enjoined and restrained from engaging in any cyberstalking, impersonation, or electronic harassment directed at [Bridges], [Bridges'] counsel, or any person associated with [Bridges]…until further order of the court or agreement of the parties.'

Earlier Custody Filing

Last month, Bridges also filed for emergency temporary sole custody of the four children he shares with Johnson. In that motion, he accused Johnson of drunkenly stalking him after abandoning their children with a nanny. The motion claimed that Johnson drove to the Spectrum Center while intoxicated, rented a room at the nearby Omni Hotel, stationed an accomplice in the lobby, and crouched behind Bridges' parked vehicle in the arena garage to tamper with its tires while he was playing for the Hornets. The motion further alleged that Johnson knew Shara and her young children would be in that car but 'did not care.' When confronted by phone, she reportedly said, 'You don't like it, do you, b---h,' and hung up.

Johnson is also accused of calling Bridges' attorneys under an assumed name to make false pregnancy claims and lying to their children by claiming Bridges had no interest in seeing them. However, the custody request was denied by a Mecklenburg County judge on April 10 because it 'failed to articulate how the children were at substantial risk.'

Background of Domestic Violence

Bridges, now 28, pleaded no contest in 2022 to a felony domestic violence charge for injuring Johnson in front of their children in June 2022. Johnson shared photos of her injuries on social media, though she did not name Bridges and later deleted the post. Bridges avoided jail time as part of his plea agreement but was sentenced to three years of probation. In October 2023, a criminal summons was issued for Bridges, accusing him of violating a protection order stemming from that case. Bridges had previously sought a restraining order against Johnson in Los Angeles in 2022, alleging harassment, theft of his dog, and unannounced visits to his Airbnb.

Bridges' NBA Career

A former Michigan State standout, Bridges was a first-round pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2018 but was traded to Charlotte for future MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Over seven NBA seasons, he has averaged 15.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Bridges has earned $76 million in his career and is set to make $22.8 million next season with the Hornets.
