Pattie Boyd has expressed her fury over not being consulted by the makers of the highly anticipated Beatles biopic. The 82-year-old model, who was married to George Harrison from 1966 to 1977, claims that no one from director Sam Mendes's team contacted her about the four-film project, which stars Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, Barry Keoghan, and Harris Dickinson as the Fab Four.
Lack of Consultation
In a new interview, Boyd revealed that she learned about her portrayal by The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood, 32, through hearsay. 'I heard that this girl, this actress, is going to be playing me,' she said. 'I might be completely wrong, but I would have thought it would be polite to mention it to me, or let me know if they've got someone who's going to be playing me. Wouldn't you think they'd let me know? But I haven't been contacted by anyone.'
Missed Opportunity for Authenticity
The iconic muse, who inspired The Beatles' 'Something' and Eric Clapton's 'Layla' and 'Wonderful Tonight,' believes she could have shared explosive stories from inside the Fab Four's inner circle. However, she suspects the filmmakers are not interested in the truth. 'I could have really told them great stories, but I don't think they want to know,' she stated. 'I think they want to create something that's completely different, like a different story. The filmmaker's creation of what they think had happened. Nothing to do with the truth, nothing to do with what really happened, because they didn't want to talk to anyone that was there.'
Forgetting the Director's Name
At one point, Boyd—now married to property developer Rod Weston—claimed she couldn't recall Mendes's name. 'Somebody said he was famous. Apparently he's famous, this man,' she added. 'But maybe I'm just old fashioned, you see? People don't really have manners anymore.'
The Ambitious Project
Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes is helming the ambitious project, titled 'The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event,' with each film focusing on one band member. Production began earlier this year, with all four films set for release in April 2028. Joseph Quinn, 35, will play George Harrison; Paul Mescal, 29, will portray Paul McCartney; Harris Dickinson, 29, will take on John Lennon; and Barry Keoghan, 32, will play Ringo Starr. Saoirse Ronan, 31, has been cast as Linda McCartney, while Shogun star Anna Sawai, 32, will play Yoko Ono.
Life as a Beatle's Wife
Boyd also opened up about the reality of being married to a Beatle during the height of their fame, revealing that the wives could not trust other women. 'Any woman that would come into our environment didn't really want to meet us or talk to us,' she recalled. 'They wanted to chat to The Beatles. And of course they were all flattered that all these girls wanted to talk to them and get close to them.'
George Harrison's Jealousy
She also claimed that George, who died of cancer at age 58 in 2001, would sometimes get jealous of her. 'George was rather upset one time when I was on the cover of one of the newspapers, because I was wearing whatever I was wearing, something mad, and he couldn't believe that they would put me on the paper and not him,' she said. 'Jealousy comes in many, many different forms. It's very odd.'
Falling in Love Again with Eric Clapton
Boyd later married Eric Clapton, now 81, in 1979 before divorcing in 1989. However, she recently attended one of his concerts and found herself swooning. 'I think I've fallen in love again,' she added on The Church Studio Presents Miss O'Dell podcast. 'I went to see Eric play at our local theatre in Guildford, in Surrey, and he was unbelievable. He was so brilliant. He looked amazing, very chic, and wore a great suit, and his guitar playing was tip-top. I couldn't believe it. It was the most exciting night.'
