Arne Slot has stated he has "every reason to believe" he will continue as Liverpool's head coach next season and have the chance to address the team's decline this campaign. The Dutch coach addressed speculation about his future following a disappointing season, with Liverpool being booed off at Anfield after a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
Internal Support Remains
Despite fan frustration, Liverpool's internal position has not changed, and there remains support for Slot, who led the club to the Premier League title in his debut season. Slot's side travels to fifth-placed Aston Villa on Friday, where a victory would secure Champions League qualification.
Slot's Confidence
When asked if he expects to be in charge next season, Slot replied: "I don't think I am deciding that alone by myself, but I have every reason to believe I am the Liverpool manager next season. First of all, I am contracted to this club and second of all from all the talks we are having."
He acknowledged that criticism is natural after a poor season: "If you don't have the best season, especially if you compare with last season, then this has definitely not been a great season and it is also normal that criticism comes."
Planning for Next Season
Slot confirmed his involvement in planning for next season, including tour destinations and player recruitment discussions. He accepted that demand for change is part of the job after one poor season, describing it as "the new reality in football."
"If a manager or a club doesn't have their best season there is always a debate about that – it is not only Liverpool it is all around the world," Slot said. "That is the new reality in football. It is not up to me to judge the people who judge me."
