Colin Sutton, a former senior Metropolitan Police detective who led the investigation into serial killer Levi Bellfield, has been appointed as Reform UK's police and crime adviser. He will help Nigel Farage's party develop its pledge to halve crime within five years.
Reform leader Nigel Farage has committed £7 billion to policies aimed at achieving this goal, including recruiting 30,000 additional police officers. Farage described Sutton as a 'huge asset' to the party.
Sutton has outlined several proposals for Reform's policing offer, including equipping all frontline officers with tasers, reopening 300 closed police stations, and ceasing investigations into online arguments. He and Farage are set to appear together at a press conference on Monday.
