Moises Caicedo has firmly dismissed any talk of a move to Real Madrid, declaring his intention to stay at Chelsea and become a club legend. The Ecuadorian midfielder's comments come after his teammate Enzo Fernandez fuelled uncertainty over his own future by failing to rule out a transfer to the Spanish giants.
Speaking from his national team's training camp, Caicedo said: 'I have a contract with Chelsea and I want to become a legend there, God willing. My intention is to stay there and finish in the best way possible.' The statement has been welcomed by Chelsea supporters, who have grown frustrated with Fernandez's ambiguous remarks.
Fernandez, who joined Chelsea for a British record fee last year, raised eyebrows when asked about a potential move to Real Madrid following the Blues' Champions League exit. 'I don't know, I don't know,' he told ESPN Argentina. 'There are eight games left and the FA Cup. There's the World Cup and then we'll see.' In a later interview, he denied talks but again left the door open.
Caicedo's clear commitment provides a boost for Chelsea, who are enduring a difficult spell with four consecutive defeats and mounting pressure on manager Liam Rosenior. The club also faces injury concerns, with Reece James sidelined again. Caicedo's loyalty stands in stark contrast to Fernandez's equivocation, offering fans a reason for optimism amid the turmoil.
