Mullins in Tears as UFC London Fight Cancelled Over Weight

British UFC fighter Melissa Mullins was reduced to tears of joy after making weight for her scheduled bout at UFC London, only for her opponent to fail the weigh-in, leading to the fight's cancellation.

Mullins, who fights out of Coventry, successfully weighed in at 136lb for the bantamweight contest against Brazil's Luana Carolina. However, Carolina came in 8lb over the limit at 144lb, marking her third weight miss in the UFC. The fight was later cancelled due to regulatory reasons.

In an emotional Instagram post, Mullins expressed her frustration: 'All my hard work wasted and the opportunity to fight on my home turf stolen from me!' She clarified that her tears were from successfully making weight, not from knowledge of her opponent's miss.

The cancellation is a setback for Mullins, who holds a 2-2 record in the UFC and a 7-2 overall MMA record. Her most recent fight was a decision loss in June.

Despite Mullins's absence, the UFC London card at the O2 Arena features several British fighters, including Lerone Murphy in the main event and Luke Riley in the co-main event, both of whom made weight successfully.
