Record Sport's top team has weighed in on Scottish football's burning questions as the summer transfer window heats up, delivering unequivocal verdicts on Benjamin Nygren's potential Celtic exit and Rangers' new recruits.
Who is the pick of Rangers' new recruits so far this summer?
Graeme Young believes Dan Neil is the standout addition. "Neil has all the traits to be a gem. Gers have been burned by recruits from sides who flit between the Championship and EPL, but Neil is no Joe Rothwell. The 24-year-old is perfect for a Derek McInnes midfield."
Ryan McDonald rates Lawrence Shankland as the crown jewel. "To nab the best striker in Scotland from a title rival is superb. Goalscorers come at a premium but he didn't cost a penny and could be a real difference maker at Ibrox."
Scott Burns is torn between Lawrence Shankland and Ross McCrorie. "Both are quality players who will enhance Derek McInnes' squad."
Can Celtic even begin to contemplate selling Alistair Johnston or Benjamin Nygren?
Graeme Young argues that Nygren's value will never be higher. "His 21 goals were treasured, but he was off the pace in big games. Losing Johnston would be huge but interest will be hard to fend off."
Ryan McDonald suggests cashing in on Nygren. "Nygren's stock is sky-high after 21 goals and playing for Sweden at the World Cup. If Celts can get £15m-plus, take it. But Maeda, Engels and Hatate could also leave, so Johnston should stay. Money talks, though."
Scott Burns is clear on the priority. "Alastair Johnston would be a massive loss. Benjamin Nygren not so much. He scores goals but doesn't do enough for me. I would sell the Swede but they have to keep AJ."
Do you think new boss Wouter Vrancken can challenge the Old Firm with Hearts?
Graeme Young is optimistic. "The Belgian is a likeable fellow and appears to have a steely interior, too. He wants to 'annoy' Celtic and Rangers and I think Hearts will. Jamestown has been ramped up and he looks itching to give the Glasgow sides a fright."
Ryan McDonald is cautious. "It's impossible to judge how Hearts will fare. A new manager, eight new players ... and counting. Throw in European football, which can derail non Old Firm clubs and it could be tough to replicate last term's heroics."
Scott Burns believes time is needed. "Given time he can. I'm not convinced it will happen this season, but you never know. Europe will be a big challenge and they have a lot of new players. Vrancken, however, does have a proven track record."
How do you think Craig McLeish and St Mirren will do this season?
Graeme Young acknowledges the pressure. "He deserves credit for staving off Partick Thistle in the play-off final but St Mirren fans appear right to have concerns. His desire to play expansive football is to be commended but if anyone needs a fast start, it's him."
Ryan McDonald expects a challenging season. "McLeish has bright ideas and has an attacking philosophy. He started off well at the Buddies before form plummeted. Saints fans were spoiled by top-six finishes under Stephen Robinson but survival must be the aim."
Scott Burns sees potential but warns of difficulty. "McLeish is a good guy. He also wants to play the game in the right manner and give youth a challenge. It could be a challenging season in Paisley."
