A new poll reveals that eight in 10 Brits now track their health metrics daily, from sleep to heart rate. The survey of 2,000 adults found that step count is one of the most closely watched metrics, with 58% measuring this every day, and 27% monitoring their heart rate daily.
Sleep and Heart Rate Top Concerns
Sleep has emerged as a major driver behind Britain's preventative health movement. According to the poll, 42% of respondents track how many hours they sleep each night, while 34% monitor the quality of their rest. This reflects a growing interest in understanding how daily habits influence long-term wellbeing.
The findings point to a broader shift toward personal health, with consumers increasingly seeking insights before serious health issues develop. The poll was commissioned by Samsung, which recently announced a major update to Samsung Health, designed to transform the Galaxy Watch Series into a proactive health partner.
Proactive Health Behavior on the Rise
Annika Bizon from Samsung UK and Ireland commented: "We're seeing a fundamental shift in how people think about their health. Rather than waiting for warning signs or problems to emerge, more consumers are looking for ways to better understand their wellbeing every day and make small, positive changes that can have a lasting impact."
Bizon added: "Health is no longer just about responding reactively – it's increasingly about prevention, awareness and building healthy habits over time."
The poll found that 64% of respondents have actively changed aspects of their lifestyle after reviewing health data. Among these, 53% improved their diet, 50% committed to walking more, and 29% took action to improve their sleeping habits.
Growing Interest in Comprehensive Health Scores
More than half of those surveyed (55%) said they are more proactive about monitoring their health today than five years ago. Additionally, 71% feel that understanding what is happening inside their body helps them feel more in control of their long-term health.
Interest in integrated health metrics is also high: 61% said they would be interested in a single score that combines different health factors to better understand their heart health. Bizon noted: "Tools like the Heart Health Score are designed to help users better understand how factors such as sleep, activity and body composition work together to influence long-term heart wellbeing."
She concluded: "By bringing these insights together into a simple daily score, we're helping people make more informed decisions about their lifestyle and feel empowered to take a more proactive approach to their health."
