ITV has quietly added a heartbreaking true crime series to its streaming service. Death in the Dorms, first released on Hulu and Disney Plus in 2023, is now available to watch free of charge on ITVX.

The documentary series plunges viewers into distressing crimes as it explores the murders of college students. Spanning six episodes, each focuses on a chilling case, from a young man reported missing to a weekend getaway that turned tragic.
An official synopsis reads: "When parents send their children off to college they are filled with pride and hope for the future of their children. These institutions of higher education should be the place where dreams begin - not nightmares. Yet at colleges around the country, there are shocking instances of murder. Death in the Dorms tells the stories of students at different schools whose lives were senselessly cut short. However, in the aftermath of these tragedies there comes hope for change."

Since its release, the series has received mixed responses. Some viewers have called it a must-watch. On social media, one person wrote: "I've been binging!" Another said they were "addicted," while a third echoed: "I’m watching those now. (On episode 3) Scary stuff!" On TikTok, a true crime fan commented: "This show will make you never want to send your kid off to college I swear." They added it was a "must watch." However, many IMDb reviewers criticized the music. One reviewer said: "The series tells of extremely traumatic murders but the music is so dreadful and ruins it." Another echoed: "The good parts about this show is that there's a large amount of research, interviews, and very serious and sad cases. All of this is just unwound by the extremely awful and loud music choices."
