Frank Lampard has guided Coventry City back to the Premier League, and his reported salary of around £5 million per year places him among the top earners in the top flight. The former Chelsea boss secured promotion in his first full campaign with the Sky Blues, who topped the Championship table after missing out in the play-offs the previous season.
Lampard's Salary Compared to Premier League Peers
Lampard's annual wage of £5m would rank him inside the top 10 among Premier League managers, surpassing several established top-flight bosses. It is more than double the £1.8m earned by Manchester United's interim manager Michael Carrick, though Carrick could receive a significant increase if appointed permanently. Only six managers are thought to command higher salaries, with Everton's David Moyes also reportedly on £5m.
Top Earners in the Premier League
Pep Guardiola of Manchester City leads the list with £20m, followed by Arsenal's Mikel Arteta on £10m. Tottenham's Roberto De Zerbi earns £8m, the same as Aston Villa's Unai Emery. Liverpool's Arne Slot takes home £6.6m, while Newcastle's Eddie Howe earns £6m. Lampard's £5m places him alongside Moyes and ahead of West Ham's Nuno Espirito Santo (£4.5m), Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner (£4m), and Fulham's Marco Silva (£4m).
Coventry City's Investment Pays Off
Coventry owner Doug King expressed satisfaction with Lampard's performance, noting that the manager's contract runs until 2027. King told The Guardian: "Listen, it's worked well. He put himself back into the arena and everybody sort of said, 'OK, it's Frank again, let's see what happens here.' He felt confident with his team that he could get clarity, motivation, focus, to take the club towards some form of success. Did he think we would be champions 18 months later? I don't think so. Nor did I."
Lampard's £5m salary is considerably less than the £15m he reportedly earned during his brief stint at Everton, making his current deal appear a bargain given the promotion success. The former England midfielder has attracted interest from other Premier League clubs, prompting speculation about a new and improved contract.
