Hollie Doyle, Britain's most successful female jockey, has revealed she is facing a long spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken leg in a fall at Bath last week. The 29-year-old, who had ridden 10 winners in 14 days to climb to fifth in the Flat jockeys' championship, was taken to hospital after her mount suffered a fatal injury.
Injury Details
Speaking to Atheraces.com, Doyle confirmed she broke the tibia and fibula in her left leg and requires surgery next week. 'I have an external fixation to keep it stable as it's a complex fracture,' she said. 'It's extremely painful and at this stage I have no timeframe to work to in terms of getting back in the saddle. I know I'm facing a long spell on the sidelines but am committed to getting back as soon as I can.'
Career Achievements
Doyle has ridden 1,135 British winners, including ten at Group 1 level. She was on track for a seventh consecutive century of winners in 2025 but fell two short after a short-term riding contract in Hong Kong.
The fall occurred after her victory on Flight Signal at Bath on Friday night. In the following race, her mount Vault Of Heaven broke down after two furlongs, and Doyle was unseated as she tried to pull up the horse, which was fatally injured.
