Unai Emery Gets £100m Transfer Budget After Villa's Europa Win

Unai Emery will be rewarded for Aston Villa's Europa League triumph with an improved transfer budget of up to £100 million. The Spanish manager has become the toast of Villa after leading his side to their first European trophy since 1982, following a 3-0 victory over Freiburg in Istanbul. The historic win also marked the club's first silverware in three decades, with stars like John McGinn and Ollie Watkins celebrating alongside Prince William.

Emery's Champions League Ambitions

Emery is now plotting Villa's assault on the Champions League next season. The Spaniard led Villa to the quarter-finals of Europe's elite competition last season, before exiting 5-4 to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain. He believes the team can go deep in the Champions League again, provided he can strengthen his squad this summer.

Transfer Plans and Targets

Emery is expected to hold talks with joint owner Nassef Sawiris in the coming weeks to finalise a spending plan. He is keen to strengthen his midfield and has targeted Celta Vigo star Ilaix Moriba. Additionally, Fulham's Harry Wilson and Como's Jesus Rodriguez are on his summer shopping list, while he is desperate to keep hold of Youri Tielemans.

To comply with the Premier League's PSR rules, Emery will release Jadon Sancho from his loan deal to reduce the wage bill. Sawiris, who was in Istanbul to witness the trophy lift, is willing to back his manager as much as possible.

Sawiris said: "It's amazing. It means a lot. I can't express myself with words. It's very special. An eight-year ride and we saw here what hard work can do with Unai's effort and the whole team. It's an amazing win. And the sky's the limit."

Emery took his squad and staff on an open-top bus parade through Birmingham on Thursday, celebrating the club's first European trophy in over four decades. The victory has set high expectations for the upcoming season, with Villa now aiming to establish themselves among Europe's elite.
