Genesis GV60 Magma: £75,915 Electric SUV Hits 62mph in 3.4 Seconds
Genesis GV60 Magma: £75,915, 0-62mph in 3.4s

The long-awaited Genesis GV60 Magma, the first high-performance model from Hyundai's luxury brand, will be priced from £75,915 when UK order books open in July. This electric SUV marks the beginning of a new line of quicker, sharper Genesis cars, building on the familiar all-electric GV60 with more power, a lower and wider stance, bigger brakes, bucket seats, and a specially engineered soundtrack to enhance the driving experience.

Performance and Powertrain

Power comes from two electric motors producing up to 641bhp and 790Nm of torque, fed by an 84kWh battery. Genesis claims the GV60 Magma can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 164mph. When the battery needs charging, a rapid charger can take it from 10 to 80 per cent in a claimed 18 minutes. The full-charge driving range is up to 278 miles.

Design and Equipment

Unlike some performance cars with lengthy options lists, the GV60 Magma will be offered in a single, generously equipped version. Buyers can choose from nine exterior colours, while inside there is a choice of Magma Orange or Ash White contrast stitching on the black interior. The Magma sits 20mm lower than the regular GV60, with an exclusive rear bumper design, a rear wing spoiler, and 21-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli tyres. Behind them sit uprated four-piston brake callipers with large, 400mm front brake discs.

Inside, Genesis has fitted 10-way electrically adjustable bucket seats finished in artificial suede, along with aluminium trim and a special Magma steering wheel. A Magma button gives the driver access to different driving settings, including Sprint and GT modes. There is also an electric sound system that provides an artificial engine-style note both inside and outside the car. The dashboard is dominated by a 27-inch panoramic display that combines the driver information and infotainment screens into one housing.

Market Position and Competition

Genesis says the new model is intended to add performance to the comfort and luxury already associated with the GV60, rather than simply chase headline numbers. Ben Sargeant, director of Genesis and customer strategy at Genesis Motor UK, said: "GV60 Magma marks a new chapter for Genesis. It embodies everything Genesis stands for: bold design, advanced technology, and a new interpretation of luxury performance."

The GV60 Magma uses Hyundai Group's electric car technology also found in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and the newer Hyundai Ioniq 6 N, which was named 2026 World Performance Car of the Year. With Genesis now entering the high-performance electric car market, the GV60 Magma will face a growing line-up of seriously quick premium EVs when customer orders begin this summer.
