A major firefighting operation is underway in Birmingham after a huge blaze erupted at a factory on the Tyseley Industrial Estate on Wednesday evening.
Emergency Response Escalates
West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) was first called to Seeleys Road in the Greet area just after 7pm on January 7. Initially, a force of 40 firefighters was sent to tackle the flames. As the fire rapidly took hold of the large brick building, the response was dramatically scaled up.
By late evening, the number of crew members at the scene had almost doubled to 80. The substantial emergency operation now involves:
- 14 fire engines
- Three hydraulic platforms
- Multiple specialist units
- Command fire officers
Scale of the Inferno
The fire has completely engulfed the industrial unit, which measures approximately 100 metres by 40 metres. Dramatic images released by the fire service show the vast structure consumed by intense flames.
Fire crews remain on site working to bring the substantial blaze under control. They have issued a direct appeal to the public to avoid the Tyseley Industrial Estate area to allow emergency services to operate freely.
