Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has reportedly received a tempting offer from Juventus, which could derail his agreed move to Tottenham Hotspur. The Scotland international is set to leave Anfield on a free transfer when his contract expires next month, having played his final match for the Reds on Sunday.
Juventus Enter the Fray
According to Sky in Italy, Juventus have made an approach for Robertson, who is said to have agreed a deal in principle with Tottenham. However, the Italian giants have tabled an offer that could tempt him to renege on that agreement. Spurs remain frontrunners for the left-back, having been linked with him since January, but Juventus' late interest adds a new twist.
Robertson's Liverpool Legacy
Robertson, 32, spent nine years at Liverpool, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, two League Cups, and the FA Cup. His experience and leadership are seen as valuable assets for any club. Spurs, who narrowly avoided relegation on the final day with a 1-0 win over Everton, are keen to strengthen their squad to prevent a repeat of their disappointing campaign.
Speaking about his final appearance for Liverpool, Robertson told Sky Sports: "Emotionally drained. It's been a busy week trying to keep your emotions in check and saying bye to those you need to say bye to." He also praised former Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, saying: "Pep Guardiola pushed us to new limits. We should have won more Premier Leagues if it wasn't for that man."
World Cup Focus
Robertson will now turn his attention to the World Cup in North America, where Scotland face Haiti, Morocco, and Brazil in Group C. The tournament kicks off on June 11, with Scotland's first match against Haiti on June 14. This could delay any decision on his club future until after the competition.
Earlier this year, Robertson addressed the January interest from Spurs, saying: "There was obviously interest there - there were discussions had with both sets of clubs. But the decision was that I wanted to stay. We stayed at Liverpool and that was the decision made." Now, with his Liverpool chapter closed, the defender faces a choice between Tottenham and Juventus.
