Laura Woods Urges Arsenal to Sign Marcus Rashford in Emotional TalkSPORT Return
Laura Woods Backs Rashford to Arsenal on TalkSPORT Return

Laura Woods made a triumphant return to TalkSPORT three years after an emotional farewell, and she did not hold back on her views regarding Marcus Rashford's potential move to Arsenal. The Arsenal fanatic expressed her enthusiasm for the Manchester United star to join the Gunners amid ongoing uncertainty about his future.

Rashford's Barcelona Loan Success

Rashford spent the last season on loan at Barcelona, where he impressed significantly, contributing to their La Liga title triumph. The 28-year-old scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions. He is widely expected to leave Manchester United permanently, with a clear desire to move to the Nou Camp. However, Barcelona are reportedly reluctant to trigger the £26 million option-to-buy clause agreed with United.

The Catalan club have instead agreed a deal to sign Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon for £69.3 million, casting further doubt on Rashford's return. Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa have reportedly held talks about a potential summer move for Rashford, while Manchester United are set to discuss his future with him.

Woods' Verdict on TalkSPORT

Woods, a lifelong Arsenal supporter, made her feelings clear during her return to the TalkSPORT Breakfast Show in Budapest, just before Arsenal's Champions League Final against Paris Saint-Germain. Co-presenter Ally McCoist prompted her by saying, "See if I was your team? I'd go and get Rashford and play him on that left-hand side." Woods responded with curiosity, "Oh would you?"

McCoist then asked directly, "I'll ask you as an Arsenal fan, could you see Rashford there? Would you like to see Rashford there?" Without hesitation, Woods replied, "I would love to see Rashford there! For that amount of money, what was it? £26 million or something like that. I don't understand the difference there [compared to Anthony Gordon] in price tag. Marcus Rashford at Barcelona seemed to really work. You're right, I'd kind of like to see him back in the Premier League as well."

Woods originally joined TalkSPORT in 2017, reviewing newspapers on the Sports Breakfast show with Alan Brazil. She worked her way up to host the show alongside Brazil, sharing a brilliant on-air chemistry with McCoist. She left the station in 2023 to pursue other ventures but has now made a return, immediately weighing in on one of the summer's biggest transfer stories.
