Apple has announced a landmark year for its services division, revealing that 2025 was a record-breaking period for user engagement across its music, television, and app platforms.
The technology giant, best known for its hardware like the iPhone and MacBook, confirmed that more people used its digital services last year than ever before. This surge was driven by significant updates and expansions across its portfolio.
Apple Music and Apple TV Lead the Charge
Apple Music enjoyed its best year to date in 2025, setting new records for both listenership and new subscribers. The service, available on iOS and Android, was bolstered by features like Lyrics Translation and the AutoMix tool, which creates seamless transitions between songs.
Meanwhile, Apple TV's popularity skyrocketed. Data from December showed users spent 36% more time watching series such as 'Slow Horses' and 'The Studio' compared to the previous year. The platform expanded its library with major additions including the Brad Pitt-starring F1 film and the acclaimed drama 'Pluribus'.
App Store and Podcasts Hit New Highs
The App Store also had an exceptional year, averaging over 850 million weekly users globally. The festive period between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day saw record visitor numbers and customer spending on digital goods and services.
Apple Podcasts similarly reported its best year yet, achieving new peaks for listeners, plays, and subscribers.
Fitness, Gaming, and Travel Features Expand
Beyond entertainment, other services saw substantial growth. Apple Fitness+ expanded to more regions, while Apple Arcade added over 50 new games to its catalogue.
Practical features were also enhanced. The Share Item Location function in Find My was extended to 27 more airlines, bringing the total to 36. Apple states this has helped reduce "truly lost" luggage by 90%. Furthermore, Apple Maps brought its Detailed City Experience to new locations like New Orleans, Singapore, and Monaco, the latter featuring a custom 3D experience for the Monaco Grand Prix.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services, said: "2025 was a record-breaking year for Apple services, marked by remarkable growth, global expansion, and continuous innovation... The numbers reflect the incredible enthusiasm of our customers."
