Samsung's 130-Inch Micro RGB TV Unveiled at CES 2026
Samsung's 130-inch Micro RGB TV Revealed at CES

Samsung has ushered in what it calls a massive new era for home entertainment, revealing a groundbreaking television that makes today's top-tier sets look outdated. The unveiling took place at the CES technology show in Las Vegas on 5th January 2026.

A Colossal Screen with Cutting-Edge Tech

The centrepiece of the announcement is a world-first 130-inch television, a size that dwarfs most domestic screens. However, Samsung insists the innovation is about far more than just scale. The visual prowess comes from its new Micro RGB technology, which the company claims will deliver movies and streaming content with unprecedented brightness, richness, and colour vibrancy.

How Micro RGB Transforms Picture Quality

This leap in performance is achieved by moving away from traditional backlighting. The Micro RGB system uses individually controlled red, green, and blue LEDs arranged in an ultra-fine pattern behind the screen. This design allows for exceptional precision in controlling each tiny light source, ensuring stunning image accuracy across the vast 130-inch canvas.

To further enhance the experience, Samsung has integrated a suite of proprietary processors: the Micro RGB AI Engine Pro, Micro RGB Colour Booster Pro, and Micro RGB HDR Pro. These work in concert, using intelligent AI to fine-tune contrast and lift dull tones for a more dynamic and realistic picture.

Design and Accessibility for All Homes

Samsung has also focused on integrating this behemoth seamlessly into living spaces. The TV features a sleek, modern design where the screen appears to float within its borders, aiming to be a striking yet complementary room centrepiece. Built-in speakers are housed within the frame to match the visual impact with powerful audio. Furthermore, Glare-Free technology is incorporated to minimise reflections and maintain consistent viewing quality in various lighting conditions.

For those concerned about the sheer size of the 130-inch model, Samsung has confirmed a broader rollout. Micro RGB technology will be available in more manageable sizes, including 55, 65, 75, 85, 100, and 110-inch models.

Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, stated: "Micro RGB represents the peak of our picture quality innovation, and the new 130-inch model takes that vision even further. We’re reviving the spirit of our original design philosophy to deliver a truly premium display, engineered for a new generation."

This announcement sets a new benchmark in the premium television market, positioning Samsung's Micro RGB as a significant technological leap that challenges the current standards of home cinema.
