Two-Ingredient Cleaner for Greasy Kitchen Cabinets Without Scrubbing
Two-Ingredient Cleaner for Greasy Kitchen Cabinets

If you've noticed that your kitchen cabinets are looking a little greasy, there's a two-ingredient homemade cleaner that may help cut through the grime with minimal scrubbing. Grime and grease can easily build up over time, regardless of how carefully you try to keep your kitchen spotless. Some areas inevitably look more tired than others. Kitchen cabinets, especially those with matte or glass finishes, need cleaning down virtually every day to keep them looking immaculate.

Given the kitchen serves as the heart of meal preparation, it is scarcely shocking that cupboards and drawers regularly end up plastered in fingerprints and food stains. When left unattended for long stretches, these marks can become incredibly challenging to remove. But one cleaning guru on social media maintains it is simple to whip up a DIY solution, and insists absolutely no scrubbing is necessary.

The Viral Cleaning Hack

Cleaning influencer Chantel Mila, known as @mama_mila_ on TikTok, has racked up more than 1.6 million followers thanks to her easy-to-follow tips that anybody can recreate. She recently posted a clip showing how to tackle kitchen cabinets using merely two common ingredients probably already sitting in your cupboard.

In the caption, she said: "Say goodbye to tough grease on your kitchen cabinets. This mix is one of my favourites at cutting through tough grease and leaving your kitchen cabinets looking new again."

Ingredients and Method

Both baking soda and lemon juice are celebrated for their powerful cleaning properties, and when combined, they become remarkably efficient at banishing stubborn marks while leaving behind a lovely, fresh scent. For spotlessly clean kitchen cabinets, you will require nothing more than a bowl and a quarter cup of bicarbonate of soda. According to Chantel, this is 'powerful' at lifting grease without the need for scrubbing.

Next, add a teaspoon of lemon juice to the mix. Chantel said: "The citric acid helps to cut through grime." Finally, add one cup of water and stir well until everything is fully combined. Work the solution onto your kitchen cabinets using a clean cloth in wide, circular movements, then let it sit for five minutes to allow the 'powerful' mixture to work its magic.

Any leftover lemon water can be tipped straight down the sink, helping to freshen it while also dissolving any stubborn blockages that might have accumulated. When the time is up, use a warm, damp cloth to wipe away the solution, leaving your cabinets looking 'shiny' thanks to the lemon and bicarbonate of soda combination.

The hack went down a storm with viewers, who were eager to share their praise in the comments section. One person wrote: "Love when the house is clean and smelling good." Another said: "Such useful tips! I tried them and they worked." A third commented: "I bet it smells so fresh in your kitchen too."
