Center Parcs Eliminates Creche Services Nationwide, Infuriating Families
Center Parcs has announced the permanent closure of its creche services across all six UK resorts, citing 'limited demand' as the primary reason. This decision has ignited widespread fury among parents who relied on the service for much-needed respite during their holidays.
Last-Minute Itinerary Chaos for Booked Guests
Families with reservations beyond the end of May are now forced to hastily rethink their plans, as the company has disabled online booking features for creche sessions, signaling a definitive end rather than a temporary suspension. The service, previously available for children aged three months to three years, offered structured and colourful sessions lasting up to three hours at a cost of approximately £30.
Parental Backlash and Emotional Reactions
On a Center Parcs community Facebook page in March, a parent named Gill expressed deep disappointment, revealing that her planned child-free spa trip with her husband for a June stay at Longleat was jeopardised. She wrote, 'I could cry,' after discovering the creche was unavailable for booking. Gill further noted that customer service informed her the service was also discontinued at the Elveden site, leaving no alternatives.
Other parents echoed her sentiments, with one confirming that creche closures were occurring across all sites by April, and another speculating it might be part of broader activity changes. Many highlighted the creche as essential for enjoying adult-focused amenities like the award-winning Aqua Sana spa, with one member praising the 'amazing' facilities and staff, while another shared a clever scheduling tactic to maximise spa time.
Company Response and Alternative Offerings
A spokesperson for Center Parcs told the Daily Mail that the decision was made to 'reflect guest feedback and limited demand,' as part of an ongoing review to evolve the guest experience. They emphasised that creche sessions were just one of over 20 activities in the Activity Den, with other options continuing normally.
The company is developing new activities for children of all ages, aiming to enhance family experiences together. Activity Dens, led by Ofsted-registered staff, offer engaging sessions such as Chocolate Chefs Academy, Go Karts, and Pony Rides. However, children under nine can only spend up to four hours unaccompanied, and parents must remain on-site during these periods.
Broader Context of Resort Changes
This move follows a series of adjustments at Center Parcs resorts in recent years. In 2025, pool opening hours were reduced from 10am-10pm to 9am-8pm, and later that year, staggered check-in hours were introduced to alleviate the traditional 4pm rush. The elimination of creche services adds to these modifications, impacting how families plan and enjoy their holidays.
