Primavera Sound Barcelona

When: 3 – 7 June

Barcelona-based Primavera Sound consistently delivers some of the best line-ups in Europe. This year, headliners include Doja Cat, The Cure, and Gorillaz, but it's the undercard that truly shines. Gen-Z rock sensation Geese performs, with frontman Cameron Winter also playing solo; indie rockers Rilo Kiley appear for their only European festival date this summer. Indie music fans will revel in Big Thief, Father John Misty, and Ethel Cain. For those seeking uptempo beats, Skrillex and Irish iconoclasts Kneecap, fresh off their album Fenian, deliver high-energy sets. We Love Green

Where: Paris, France
When: 5 – 7 June

Paris may not be the first city that comes to mind for festivals, but We Love Green offers a superb weekend of all-star acts without the crushing crowds. This night-focused festival runs main stages until 1am, leaving days free for exploring Parisian museums, shopping, and bistros. No camping required—another bonus. The lineup spans genres: pop girlies will love Addison Rae, co-headlining with French-Congolese artist Theodora. Gorillaz join indie-electro icons the xx (returning to France after eight years), British rapper Little Simz, and pop-punk hero Hayley Williams. Australian DJ Ninajirachi brings glitchy hyperpop beats for late-night pick-me-ups. We Love Green is also a sustainable affair, with strictly vegetarian food—delicious, despite the lack of meat.

Rock in Rio Lisboa

Where: Lisbon, Portugal
When: 20 – 21 and 27 – 28 June

This long-running offshoot of the Brazilian Rock in Rio trades mountains for ocean views but keeps the eclectic spirit. Across two weekends, the lineup spans generations: Katy Perry headlines the first Saturday alongside Charlie Puth; Linkin Park and Cypress Hill lead Sunday. A week later, Cyndi Lauper, Shaggy, and Rod Stewart take the stage—imagine a mash-up! Younger crowds will gravitate to the second Sunday featuring 21 Savage and Central Cee. Hospitality packages offer perks like boat trips and local tours, perfect for exploring sunny Lisbon beyond the music.

Roskilde

Where: Roskilde, Denmark
When: 27 June – 3 July

Denmark's answer to Glastonbury, the not-for-profit Roskilde Festival is one of Europe's biggest music events. This year's giant acts include Talking Heads' David Byrne, Lily Allen (performing her divorce album West End Girl in full), The Cure, Gorillaz, Zara Larsson, and Addison Rae. Emerging artists to watch: Digicore artist Jane Remover, Canadian folk musician Cat Clyde, and masked British rapper Esdeekid (subject of a bizarre Timothée Chalamet conspiracy theory). Roskilde is renowned for its progressive, inclusive vibe and huge scale—over 130,000 attendees temporarily make it Denmark's fourth-largest city. End-of-June weather may be unpredictable, but Brits will feel right at home.

Mad Cool

Where: Madrid, Spain
When: 8 – 11 July

Mad Cool's impressive lineup offers something for everyone, operating as a cross-generational festival where TikTok sensations share stages with rock veterans. Øya Festival

Where: Tøyenparken, Oslo, Norway
When: 12 – 15 August

Come for the breezy muso crowd, organic food stalls, and one of the lowest carbon footprints of any festival. This year's lineup includes Blood Orange's kaleidoscopic art-R&B, Geese's wired art-rock, Underworld's electronic grandeur, and CMAT's country-pop chaos.
