Peroni Offers Free Beer at Covent Garden Art Installation This Weekend
Free Peroni Beer at Covent Garden Art Installation

There's still no such thing as a free lunch, but visitors to London's Covent Garden this weekend can pick up a free beer. A promotion from the famous Italian lager brand Peroni will see chilled half pints of the drink served from what appears to be a tap set within an elaborate 3D recreation of an Italian Renaissance painting, without charge.

The fresco backdrop to the bar tap was unveiled by models David Gandy and Leomie Anderson earlier this week. Mimicking a painting in the style of Raphael, Titian, or Botticelli, the promotion, called Il Fresco di Peroni, is part artwork, part optical illusion, part bar, its makers promise. Visitors can sit 'inside' the painting for a selfie.

Gandy himself waxed lyrical, saying: 'The ritual of Aperitivo is a beautiful occasion to stop and savour the moment with a great drink, quality food and company. As a globally recognised symbol of effortless Italian style, it has been wonderful to partner with Peroni Nastro Azzurro on such a dynamic experience. They've turned pouring a beer into a work of art and I'm thrilled to have been one of the first to experience it.'

Anderson added: 'No other beer does style in quite the same way as Peroni Nastro Azzurro. Who else could invite you to step into a beautiful Italian piece of art and be served a crisp, refreshing beer? The first taste is something special and for anyone in Covent Garden – Il Fresco di Peroni is a must visit.'

Anja Gottschalk, Brand Director for Peroni, said: 'We're thrilled to launch this special experience for Londoners and visitors to Covent Garden. Il Fresco di Peroni celebrates iconic symbols of Italian style - bringing the beauty of a Roman fresco to London offers visitors a truly special drinking occasion and something unique to marvel at.'

The pair are part of a campaign for the Italian beer, Peroni. The installation will be open to over 18s from noon to 8pm until Saturday evening.
