Royal Caribbean Unveils Hero of the Seas: Next Icon Class Mega Ship

Royal Caribbean has officially revealed the name and details of its next Icon class mega cruise ship, set to launch in 2027. The vessel, named Hero of the Seas, will debut with Caribbean sailings from Miami in August 2027, joining the fleet alongside Legend of Seas launching this summer, and the already sailing Icon and Star.

Enhanced Features and Family Focus

Similar to its sister ships, Hero of the Seas will feature eight distinct neighbourhoods designed for families, including restaurants, swimming pools, and waterslides. Signature Icon class elements will return, such as the Royal Promenade with its dining options, the open-air Central Park boasting over 30,500 real plants, and convenient pick-up windows for sushi and champagne.

High-end entertainment is promised in venues like the Royal Theater, the marquee AquaTheater, and Absolute Zero, the largest ice arena at sea. However, Hero of the Seas aims to surpass its predecessors with a record 28 dining venues and the most pools at sea, offering more choices for all ages.

Record-Breaking Pools and Waterpark

Royal Caribbean is elevating its pool experience with nine distinct pools on Hero of the Seas, the highest number at sea, compared to seven on other Icon class ships. Highlights include:

  • Coconut Cove: A new pool near the Caribbean-themed Lime and Coconut bar, featuring in-water loungers and poolside service.
  • The Hideaway: An adults-only area with two pools and the largest swim-up bar at sea, complete with an in-water DJ booth.

The waterpark will also be expanded, introducing two new family raft slides, including the first funnel raft slide at sea, and enhanced versions of the mat-racing Storm Chasers slide.

Immersive Dining and Family Suites

New dining experiences on board include:

  • Orleans Parish Supper Club: Featuring live jazz, craft cocktails, and gourmet Cajun and Creole dishes.
  • Royal Railway – Hero Station: An immersive dining adventure where passengers are transported by train car to new destinations.
  • Hands-on cooking classes in the family-friendly Surfside neighbourhood, along with returning favourites like the AquaDome Market with four new stall concepts, Crème de la Crêpe for desserts, and Simply Pressed for fresh juices.

For accommodations, Hero of the Seas will offer a range of family suites, including the new Ultimate Family Treehouse. This three-deck suite features a rooftop terrace, private whirlpool, a two-deck teen space, and two main bedrooms each with their own bathroom and balcony.
