TUI Names Turkey Top for Sunny Summer Holidays

TUI has revealed which European country offers the most ideal weather for summer holidays, and it is not Spain, Portugal, or Greece. According to the airline's latest 'ideal weather holiday guide', Turkey ranks as the top destination for warmth and sunshine, based on historical weather data.

Turkey Leads with Ideal Weather Score

Turkey achieved an impressive 'ideal weather score' of 8.70 out of 10, thanks to an average temperature of 27.57°C, low wind speeds, and minimal rainfall. The research analysed over 150 European destinations to identify the best conditions for family getaways.

Dalaman in Turkey ranked as the city with the best summer weather, with temperatures reaching 28°C, light winds, and negligible rainfall. Nine of the top ten destinations in TUI's study are located in Turkey.

Runners-Up: Cyprus and Greece

Cyprus took second place with a score of 8.57/10, offering mean temperatures of 27.45°C, light winds, and very little rain. Greece ranked third with a score of 7.60/10, boasting an average temperature of 25.98°C and gentle sea breezes.

Other Notable Destinations

Gibraltar recorded the least rainfall during summer holidays at just 0.05mm, while Portugal, Bulgaria, Italy, Croatia, Spain, and Malta also featured in the top ten. Despite its popularity, Spain ranked ninth due to higher wind speeds and rainfall compared to other destinations.

Natalie Johnson, Global Product Manager of TUI Holiday Villages, commented: 'Turkey consistently stands out for its dependable sunshine, which makes it a strong option for families planning a summer holiday.' She added that Cyprus and Greece also offer excellent conditions for outdoor activities and relaxation.

The research comes as searches for 'best family holiday destinations abroad' surged by 5,000% in the past month, according to Google Trends, as Brits seek guaranteed sunshine amid uncertain weather at home.
