Trump's 'Favorite British Artist' Designs $250 Bill Featuring His Mugshot
Trump's 'Favorite British Artist' Designs $250 Bill

Iain Alexander, a former British DJ and professional swimmer, is at the forefront of designing a potential $250 banknote featuring Donald Trump. The artist claims he has painted portraits of the US president, Queen Elizabeth II, and Elon Musk's mother.

Designing the $250 Bill

Alexander confirmed he is behind the controversial bill, which includes Trump's mugshot, according to a photo obtained by The Washington Post. Trump officials at the Treasury Department are pushing for the creation of the banknote to mark the 250th anniversary of the US. However, federal law only permits deceased individuals to appear on currency.

Alexander proposed a theme of 'women's liberation' for the back of the note, featuring Betsy Ross, who made flags during the American Revolution. Trump 'absolutely loved it,' Alexander said.

High-Profile Clientele

Despite a minor internet presence, Alexander says Trump calls him his 'favourite British artist.' He has also created a 3D artwork of Queen Elizabeth II, presented during her 70th Jubilee in 2022, and a family portrait of boxer Tyson Fury. His Instagram shows him with Lionel Richie and at Mar-a-Lago.

In 2024, he posted a photo with Trump alongside a portrait he created, writing: 'Congratulations, Mr President. It has been a pleasure to work for you.' He also shared a painting of Elon Musk's mother, Maya Musk.

Background and Networking

Alexander was set to make the GB swimming team for the 2000 Olympics but pulled out due to injury. He then turned to DJing, traveling worldwide before opening a club in Dubai in 2006. He told the Personable podcast that building relationships through networking was key, involving late nights and socializing.

He described Trump as 'marmite,' saying people either love or hate him. 'I like controversial people,' he said. 'I find him interesting... when he is not in the news, there isn't anything nearly as exciting as when he is.'

The Independent contacted Alexander and the White House for comment.
