Aldi has announced its latest expansion plans across the United Kingdom, with a target of reaching 1,500 stores nationwide. The discounter is investing over £370 million this year alone and is calling on the public to help identify the best locations for new branches.
Public Invited to Suggest Locations
The supermarket chain is inviting customers to submit suggestions for where new Aldi stores should be opened. The most requested locations will be reviewed by Aldi’s property team as part of its commitment to bringing affordable groceries to more communities. Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: “We know how important it is for people to have access to affordable, high-quality food close to where they live, which is why we’re asking our shoppers to help us identify the communities that would benefit most from a new Aldi store.” He added: “Opening new stores in these areas means we can bring great value to more customers, while also creating jobs and offering industry-leading pay.”
To nominate a town or area, customers should email NextNewStore@aldi.co.uk with the town name in the subject line. Submissions must be received by Thursday, June 18, 2026. Aldi plans to share the results and unveil the next round of priority locations later this year.
Previous Success Stories
A similar initiative last year saw locations in London, Merseyside, and Oxfordshire identified as priorities. Since then, progress has been made to open new stores near Pendle Drive in Liverpool, and in Hanworth and Willesden in London.
