Luxury Interior of Murrell's Motorhome Exposed

Images taken from within Peter Murrell's luxury motorhome have been released after he was sentenced today for embezzling £400,310.65 from the Scottish National Party (SNP). The photographs reveal the extravagant interior of the £124,550 campervan, which was purchased using stolen party funds and has become a symbol of one of Scotland's biggest political scandals.

The motorhome, parked behind secure shutters in a storage facility and outside his mother's home in Fife, features designer kitchenware, expensive accessories, and premium fittings. Among the items visible is a blue Le Creuset Enamel On Steel Zen Tea Kettle, worth £85.24, sitting prominently on the kitchen worktop. Nearby, an Alessi teapot valued at around £220 was also photographed.

Haul of Designer Goods Seized by Investigators

Another photo shows a collection of expensive household items spread across the floor after being seized by investigators from the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS). The haul includes a Le Creuset wine opener foil remover worth £22.05, two Creuset wine stoppers valued at £35 and £55 respectively, Wusthof kitchen shears costing almost £63, Peugeot salt and pepper mills worth £31.65, Joseph Joseph kitchen tools priced at £30, an Oxo wooden spoon set costing £14.52, Oxo storage containers for £19, a five-in-one tool valued at £34.95, and a Joseph Joseph baking set worth £21.02.

The interior also features a stylish curved sink flanked by mirrors and shelving packed with products, as well as a comfortable living area with black leather seating, a television, cupboards, and sleeping accommodation.

Purchase and Concealment of the Motorhome

The luxury motorhome was purchased in January 2021 for £124,550 using SNP money that Murrell later admitted stealing. Court proceedings heard the vehicle was bought for his personal use and driven to his mother's home in Fife, where it remained until seized by police in April 2023 during the Operation Branchform investigation. The vehicle had covered only four miles by the time it was discovered. Prosecutors told the High Court that false documentation was created to present the campervan as a legitimate SNP expense, but it was never used for party campaigning.

Murrell's Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Murrell, the SNP's former chief executive and estranged husband of former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, admitted embezzling £400,310.65 from the party over a 12-year period. The court heard he used party funds to bankroll a lavish lifestyle that included luxury vehicles, designer goods, jewellery, electronics, and household items. He pleaded guilty on May 25, 2026, at Edinburgh High Court and was remanded in custody pending sentence. Prosecutors told the court Murrell used charge cards, bank transfers, and fake invoices to conceal the fraud while spending money that had come from party funds.
