Police investigating the death of an elderly woman in Poole have now made a total of six arrests, with all suspects released on bail as the inquiry continues.
Horror Discovery in Broadstone
The investigation was launched after a woman in her 80s was found dead at her home in the Broadstone area of Poole. Officers attended the address on Monday 8 December 2025 and noted signs of a possible burglary.
Four days later, on 12 December, Dorset Police announced the first three arrests. Those detained included a 32-year-old man from Verwood, a 30-year-old man from Wimborne, and a 16-year-old boy from Romsey. All were held on suspicion of murder and burglary.
Further Arrests Made in Major Crime Probe
In a significant update, the force has now confirmed three further arrests. A 21-year-old man from Alderholt and a 22-year-old man from Wimborne were taken into custody.
Following additional investigative work, officers also arrested a 17-year-old boy from Wimborne. All six individuals have been questioned on suspicion of murder and burglary and have subsequently been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen, of the Dorset Police Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT), stated: "Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the woman who sadly died. The investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding her death."
Appeal for Key Witnesses and Information
DI Inkpen has issued a direct appeal to the public for information. He is particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Higher Blandford Road, near the junction with Cotton Close, between Saturday 29 November and Monday 1 December 2025.
Police are asking for witnesses to any suspicious activity or for anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward. "The arrests have been made to assist officers in gathering as much information as they can, while providing legal protection to the individuals," a police spokesperson explained.
The force has acknowledged the concern such an incident causes locally and has promised an increased policing presence in the vicinity. Officers conducting enquiries can be approached by members of the public with any information or concerns.
