Mansoor Ahmed, 31, of Blackthorn Avenue, west London, has been sentenced to an additional six months in prison after threatening to stab British Transport Police (BTP) officers. The convicted sex offender, previously jailed for assaulting two women on the London Underground, launched a hate-filled tirade against BTP call handlers on May 27, 2024, because he was angry that details of his crimes and custody photo had been made public.
Details of the Offence
Ahmed contacted BTP's First Contact Centre on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 27, and provided the reference number for his own case. His complaint centred on a 2020 investigation into the sexual assault of two women on the London Underground, for which he had been convicted and sentenced to two years and two months in prison. Enraged that details of his convictions and his custody photograph had been released, Ahmed subjected the call handler to nearly 14 minutes of abuse.
During the call, he made graphic threats of violence against BTP officers, saying he would stab and attack them at railway stations. He stated, “I’m coming to stab all of you […] I’m coming to stab a transport police officer.” He also made a series of sexually violent threats towards women and children, adding, “when I find one of your transport police officers, I’m going to put acid on his face.”
Arrest and Sentencing
Detectives from BTP’s Major, Serious and Organised Crime (MSOC) team launched a manhunt, and Ahmed was arrested two days later, on May 29, in west London. He called arresting officers “dossers” and continued to hurl abuse at them as they drove him to custody. In an interview, he told detectives that “red mist” came over him during the call, stemming from his crimes and photo being made public by BTP. Ahmed also admitted to being a criminal but claimed he is not evil.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised the charges against him. On July 3, 2024, Ahmed pleaded guilty to Threatening Communications, Possession of Cannabis, and a Public Order offence. He was sentenced to six months in prison and remanded in custody.
Impact and Response
This case highlights the serious consequences of threatening behaviour towards public servants. BTP has reiterated its commitment to prosecuting individuals who intimidate or threaten officers. The CPS confirmed the charges were appropriate given the nature of the threats. Ahmed's prior conviction for sexual assault on the London Underground remains a matter of public record, and his latest sentence adds to his criminal history.
