Tributes for Teen Driver Killed in Fife Crash

Tributes have flooded in for Kerr Paterson, a 17-year-old stock car racer who died in a horror crash in Fife. The incident occurred on the B914 near its junction with the A823, close to Kelty, at around 2:25am on Sunday. Kerr was driving his blue Toyota Aygo when it collided with a yellow Volkswagen Golf.

Emergency Response and Investigation

Emergency crews attended the scene, but Kerr could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The occupants of the Volkswagen had left the area before police arrived. Enquiries to trace them led to the arrest of a 20-year-old man in connection with the incident. The police investigation is ongoing.

Stock Car Racing Career

Kerr raced stock cars at Cowdenbeath Racewall and was a popular figure on the circuit. He won Driver of the Year in 2024 while competing in the Scottish Championship. His passion for racing was well known, and he was often seen working on his car.

Tributes poured in locally after news of his death spread. Bryan Lindsay said: "I have no words, absolutely devastating, another one of the good ones taken far too soon. Rest easy, buddy." Aiden Nicol commented: "Took too soon. Rest in peace, Kerr, gone but never forgotten. Forever a legend." Jordan Cassie said: "Rest in peace, brother. You will be sadly missed." Sian Blair added: "He was one of a kind, with a heart of gold. Rest easy, dude." Kirsty Davidson said: "Heartbreaking news. Such a great young man who will be so sadly missed. Rest easy, buddy. Police Appeal

Police Scotland are appealing for information or dash-cam footage. Sergeant Lee Walkingshaw said: “Our thoughts are with the 17-year-old male who has died. We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this crash and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact police. In addition, anyone with dash-cam footage from around the time of the incident is asked to get in touch as this may be able to assist.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting reference 0511 of July 5, 2026.
