Amanda Owen, star of Channel 5's Our Yorkshire Farm, admitted she was left 'slightly embarrassed' after being introduced on Amy Hart's Mum's Club podcast, especially after her eldest daughter Raven remarked she had been 'dragged up'.
Introduction Sparks Embarrassment
The shepherdess was welcomed onto the show by former Love Island contestant Amy Hart, who listed her accomplishments: 'She is a shepherdess, she's got books, she's got TV shows, she's going out on tour, [and she's a mum to] Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clemmy and Nancy, it's Amanda Owen!'
In response, the 51-year-old appeared flustered, replying: 'Hello Amy, you're stressing me out from actually even saying this because it makes me feel embarrassed. I'm like I'm really not all that, I mean, yes, that is kind of like the vital statistics but come on.'
Daughter's Honest Comment
Amanda explained that while she is proud of her achievements, the praise feels bittersweet. She shared: 'And you know, a parent of nine, it's like well yes I am, but as Raven, my eldest, said the other day, she said, "Look at what I've achieved after being dragged up." So, you do keep it real, it's like those are your achievements and if your achievements have been about my rather lapse achievements, then take it. It's all good, it's character building.'
Amy Hart, who has experienced similar introductions, related to Amanda's feelings, saying: 'You sort of think like, "Oh what do I even do?" and they list it all and you're like, "Okay, no I do quite a lot."'
Life at Ravenseat Farm
Asked about life as a mother of nine, Amanda joked about the state of their family home, Ravenseat Farm, a remote 2,000-acre hill farm in Swaledale, Yorkshire Dales National Park. 'It's not a perfect house,' she said. 'I mean, I think it's perfect in that it's homely and it's welcoming, but yeah you don't want to scratch the surface too much because it's never going to look like one of those houses out of a glossy magazine, but I feel like it's got a nice vibe to it.'
Since separating from Clive Owen in 2022, Amanda has continued to live and work at Ravenseat while co-parenting their children.
New Series: Our Farm Next Door
Amanda and her former husband have been restoring a nearby property known as Anty John's, the focus of their new series Our Farm Next Door. Previously, Amanda described the renovation as a 'very slow job', but one the whole family has been involved in. Together, they have tackled major restoration work, from repairing the roof and stonework to installing essential utilities.
Unlike Our Yorkshire Farm, which centered on day-to-day life at Ravenseat, Our Farm Next Door follows the family's ambitious renovation of Anty John's and the challenges of restoring a traditional Yorkshire farmhouse in a remote setting.
