Off Campus Star Mika Abdalla Splits from Fiancé Jake Short After Five Years
Mika Abdalla and Jake Short Split After Five-Year Romance

Off Campus star Mika Abdalla has announced her split from fiancé Jake Short following a five-year romance.

Representative Confirms Breakup

'Due to recent interest in Mika's personal life it would feel remiss to not address that [she] and Jake are no longer together,' a rep for the 26-year-old Texan told Us Weekly on Monday. 'They continue to support each other and remain on friendly terms, and kindly ask for privacy and respect.'

Social Media Silence

Abdalla has not posted about the 29-year-old Indiana native on her Instagram account since November 20. The former child stars never officially confirmed their engagement, but Short's manager Brian Medavoy wrote in a May 2025 Instagram post: 'An awesome day yesterday celebrating the next chapter for my longtime client, Jake Short and his fiancée Mika Abdalla. From set to real life – watching your journey has been a joy. Here's to forever.'

How They Met

Abdalla and the 9-1-1 guest star originally met in 2021 on the New York set of Hulu teen comedy Sex Appeal, where they portrayed onscreen couple Avery and Larson. 'I came over just to say hi, and we ended up talking, not about the script, just talking and getting to know each other for hours,' The Pitt actress revealed on The American High podcast in 2024. 'I was like, wait, this guy is actually really cool and sweet and great.'

Current Projects

Abdalla has been hard at work on the Vancouver set of her Amazon Prime Video show Off Campus, filming season two, which centers on her character Allie Hayes' steamy romance with college hockey player Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn). 'I truly love working with Stephen so much. We're also very similar actors in our insecurities and doubts,' the American Eagle paid partner gushed to THR last Thursday. 'We're not trying to find the characters anymore. We know these characters not only from portraying them, but also just from seeing fan reactions to the teasers or the trailer.'

She added: 'I know so much more about Allie and these books than ever before. It's definitely going to be a lot less stressful this time around.'

Record-Breaking Success

Last week, Louisa Levy's critically-acclaimed romantic dramedy show made history as the third most-watched debut series by amassing 36 million viewers in its first 12 days. Off Campus is originally based on the popular new adult romance five-book series by author Elle Kennedy.
