The superhero series The Boys aired its season 5 finale on Prime Video today, leaving fans wondering if there will be a season 6. According to Prime Video, season 5 is the final season of the main series, with most characters receiving definitive endings.

The finale features Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) finally defeating Homelander (Antony Starr) in an epic battle in the Oval Office. Butcher then meets his end at the hands of Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), who shoots him to prevent the release of a supe-killing virus. Other characters find closure: Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) travels to France, MM (Laz Alonso) reunites with his family and gives Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) a stable home, and Hughie runs an electronics store with a pregnant Annie January (Erin Moriarty), who continues her superhero work. The finale also confirms the survival of Marie Moreau, Jordan Li, and Emma Meyer from the cancelled Gen V.
What's Next for The Boys Universe?
While The Boys has ended, spinoffs are on the way. Vought Rising, a prequel set in the 1950s about the origins of Vought, will premiere in 2027, featuring Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Clara Vought (Aya Cash). Another spinoff, The Boys: Mexico, is in development under Gareth Dunnet-Alocer, with Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna as executive producers. Showrunner Eric Kripke has expressed excitement about the project, noting its unique tone within the same world.
