Australian football star Kyra Cooney-Cross has shared an emotional update about her family's situation, revealing her mother has married her partner in a hospital ceremony following a devastating cancer diagnosis.

Jess Cooney-Cross, a mother of four, was recently diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of bile duct cancer for which there is no known cure. Despite the difficult circumstances, she and her long-term partner decided to proceed with their wedding plans.
The Arsenal midfielder, 23, posted two poignant photos from the hospital on Instagram this Tuesday. "My beautiful mum and my amazing stepdad got married at the hospital on 15/1/26 after being engaged for four years," Cooney-Cross wrote. She described the ceremony as both perfect and heartbreaking, stating she had never witnessed a love as pure and genuine as theirs.
An Overwhelming Wave of Support
Cooney-Cross confirmed her mother has now begun a course of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. The hope is that this treatment will allow Jess to spend some time at home while continuing her fight against the aggressive illness.
