Angelica Camacho has opened up in a candid video, revealing that she "begged" producers to remove her from Louis Theroux's recent documentary, "Inside the Manosphere," and that she "never wanted to be a part of it." The documentary, which aired this month on Netflix, explores the controversial online "manosphere" community, featuring figures like TikToker HSTikkyTokky and other young men who champion extreme masculinity.
Documentary Involvement and Regrets
In the documentary, Angelica appears as she was dating influencer and podcaster Myron Gaines at the time. Louis Theroux, 55, is seen questioning her about Myron's belief in "one-way monogamy," to which Angelica responded that she didn't mind as long as their relationship was the most important to him. However, in her recent TikTok video, Angelica expressed deep regret over her involvement.
She explained, "I want to address a few things. First of all, I never wanted to be part of any documentary whatsoever. I was never told or asked to be in a documentary until the moment of. I was stupid enough to not read a contract before signing it. That's how I ended up in that documentary." She added that she repeatedly begged producers via email to take her out, but her requests were ignored, leading to her inclusion against her wishes.
Moving Forward and New Relationship
Angelica shared that she is now focusing on moving forward, stating she is coming "out of her shell" on social media and wants to leave "the past in the past." She mentioned undergoing therapy and receiving support from friends and family to cope with the aftermath. Importantly, she revealed that she is in a new relationship with someone who makes her feel "special," "happy," and cared for, marking a positive turn in her life.
Her followers have shown support, with comments praising her for leaving her previous relationship and finding happiness. One user noted, "Girl being in that documentary and by the end of it, leaving that boy...is inspiring for so many women! You chose to leave instead of staying which is amazing," while another questioned, "How does such a sweet soul end up with someone like Myron?"
Louis Theroux's Perspective
Following the documentary's release, Louis Theroux discussed the importance of addressing the manosphere issue, particularly as a father to sons. He told the Mirror, "I think as a parent you hope that your influence will outweigh whatever they're being fed online, but truthfully they probably spend more hours looking at their phones than they do talking to us and we don't always know what they're looking at." This highlights the broader societal concerns the documentary aims to tackle.
Angelica's story underscores the personal impacts of media involvement and the challenges of navigating controversial topics in the public eye. Her journey from regret to renewal resonates with many, shedding light on the complexities behind documentary productions and individual agency.
