A guest on Dickinson's Real Deal was left in tears after a historic moment on the ITV show. The episode, which aired on Thursday afternoon, saw David Dickinson visit Cirencester as members of the public brought in their items to be valued.
Anna and Rachel, who work for the Dogs Trust charity, presented a large meat platter to dealer Henry Nicholls. They explained that the item had been donated to the charity two years ago but was difficult to sell in their shop. Henry, a dog lover, was delighted to help the charity.
Henry identified the platter as a 200-year-old Spode piece, noting that the mark on the back, dated August 1816, was extremely rare. He initially offered £200, then increased his offer to £500. After consulting with David, who estimated the platter's auction value at £150 to £300, Henry made an unprecedented move.
Henry offered to match his £500 payment with a £500 donation to the Dogs Trust, making the total £1,000. David declared it an extraordinary offer, never before seen on the show. One of the guests broke down in tears, overwhelmed by the generosity.
The guests accepted the deal, and Henry expressed his joy at owning such a rare piece while supporting his favourite charity. David quipped that Henry deserved a kiss, planting one on his forehead as the guests thanked him profusely.
